1. First truly synthetic organism created

Back in May, scientists completed a 15 year quest to create the first self-replicating, synthetic bacterial cell. The team led by Craig Venter of America’s J. Craig Venter Institute (JVCI) proved the principle that genomes can be designed in the computer, chemically made in the laboratory and transplanted into a recipient cell to produce a new self-replicating cell controlled only by the synthetic genome. The research could lead to engineered bacteria designed for specific purposes such as producing drugs, biofuels or other useful chemicals. Full story

While the name of Sony Ericsson is going down in Smart Phone world but few months ago they had mentioned that they had a surprise which they will reveal in the coming months. And now today Sony Ericsson has launched their latest Android Phone Walkman W8.

Walkman W8 had Android 2.1 in it which I think is little bit disappointing we expected much better from them at this time. The phone has a look of a Walkman and is apparently first Android device to sport Walkman moniker which would give more music services to its users. On the other hand this phone has nothing special to offer to its users at a time which so many amazing phones are coming to the smartphone world.
Talking about the hardware this device has 3-inch touch screen display , which has a resolution of 480×320.It also contains a 3.2 mega pixel camera and it has a RAM of 128MB.If anybody like it , it also has FM Radio in it.It will launch in Asia with three colors which are blue , red and orange.

Future music player 2020

Projecting a music player for the year 2020, designer José Ignacio Martínez has developed a portable music player concept for Apple dubbed the “iPod Shuffle2020” that packs unlimited music and battery capacity. Sending the user’s music in his iTunes account through G3 Internet to the inner receptor of the Shuffle, the device is updated automatically every time the user turns it on, as it always remains in sync with the music the user has in his/her computer. The battery also reacts to the G3 waves automatically and remains juiced up all the time.

Working with HyperSoundSystem technology, the iPod Shuffle2020 employs ultrasound waves that travel straight to the inner ear, allowing the listener enjoy music without any earphones. The Shuffle also integrates a microphone that receives the exterior sound/noises and eliminates them with destructive interference. If you wanna hear everything else besides the music, you can set the microphone to partially eliminate the surrounding sound or pause the device.

To turn the device on and play, the user has to push the Power button once and to play the next song, he/she has to push and hold the Power button. The user has to slide the finger up or down on the touchpad to turn the volume and push twice to go back. Like other Apple gadgets, the iPod Shuffle2020 is very intuitive, thanks to MultiTouch technology, while on the other hand, Apple’s VoiceOver technology lets the futuristic Shuffle talk to users and tell them about the song and artist they are listening to at the moment.
